HISP Ethiopia participated in the official closing workshop of the IMPULSE Phase II Project, organized by Doctors with Africa CUAMM on May 26, 2026, in Addis Ababa. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, implementing health facilities, and the Addis Ababa Health Bureau to review the project’s achievements, lessons learned, and key findings while celebrating the successful completion of Phase II.
Strengthening Digital Health Through the IMPULSE Phase II Project
Throughout the IMPULSE Phase II Project, HISP Ethiopia contributed to strengthening health service delivery and promoting data-driven decision-making through innovative digital health solutions. The closing workshop provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the project’s impact, share implementation experiences, and discuss strategies for sustaining and expanding the achievements made during the project period.
As a key implementation partner, HISP Ethiopia played a significant role in designing, developing, and deploying digital solutions that supported the project’s objectives. One of the major achievements was the development of a custom DHIS2-based Newborn and Stillbirth application. The application was designed to improve routine data quality assessment and monitoring of maternal and neonatal health indicators by automating the comparison of source-register data with HMIS-reported data across eleven priority indicators.
Additionally, the system streamlined facility-level data verification processes, reduced manual calculations and human error, and enabled real-time visualization of data quality performance within DHIS2. HISP Ethiopia also developed interactive dashboards that provided facility, woreda, and regional-level users with timely insights into reporting performance. As a result, supervisors could quickly identify data discrepancies, monitor reporting quality, and support evidence-based decision-making.
Looking Ahead
HISP Ethiopia extends its sincere appreciation to the Principal Investigators (PIs), the Doctors with Africa CUAMM country office, implementing partners, health facilities, the Ministry of Health, and all stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration made the IMPULSE Phase II Project a success.
Although Phase II has officially concluded, the knowledge, partnerships, and digital innovations established through the project will continue to strengthen resilient, data-driven health systems in Ethiopia. HISP Ethiopia remains committed to supporting digital transformation through sustainable DHIS2 solutions and collaborative partnerships.
