BISHOFTU, Ethiopia – From April 7–9, 2026, HISP Ethiopia joined key national stakeholders for the RH/FP/AYH Integrated Supportive Supervision Tool Harmonization and Validation Workshop. The workshop focused on validating the DHIS2 Supportive Supervision Tool, an important milestone toward strengthening digital health systems in Ethiopia.
During the three-day session, participants collaboratively reviewed, harmonized, and formally validated the supervision tool. As a result, the validated tool is now ready for digital configuration within DHIS2, supporting more efficient and standardized supportive supervision across the country.
Preparing the Tool for Digital Transformation
The validated DHIS2 Supportive Supervision Tool will help improve the way supportive supervision is conducted by enabling:
- Streamlined workflows for supportive supervision teams.
- Real-time data collection and reporting.
- Better monitoring of Reproductive Health (RH), Family Planning (FP), and Adolescent and Youth Health (AYH) services.
- Faster access to quality data for evidence-based decision-making.
Furthermore, digitalizing the supervision process will reduce paper-based reporting and improve the availability of timely information for health managers and program teams.
A Collaborative Milestone
The successful validation workshop reflects the value of collaboration and shared expertise. HISP Ethiopia appreciates the Federal Ministry of Health (MoH), the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), and all development partners for their technical contributions and continued commitment to strengthening Ethiopia’s health information systems
Looking Ahead
With the validation process complete, the next phase will focus on configuring the DHIS2 Supportive Supervision Tool, testing the digital workflows, and building the capacity of implementation teams. Ultimately, these efforts will strengthen supportive supervision and improve the quality of RH, FP, and AYH services across Ethiopia.
